HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!!!!!!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

Krumbs and I love this holiday because it's the BIRTHDAY OF THE USA!  Do you know the story of the Fourth of July?

Way back in the years before 1776, the colonists (the first people who came to live in the United States from Europe) started getting really angry because Britain wanted them to send more and more money and follow more and more British rulesThe colonists wanted to make their own rules and keep their money.

The colonists decided to tell Britain they wanted to be independent.  They asked Thomas Jefferson to write down all the things that were important to them.  He would write a letter to tell the British government that the colonists were going to make their own rules and pay their own bills.  He would tell them the things that were most important to the people living in the United States in 1776.

Thomas Jefferson wrote a sloppy copy of the Declaration of Independence on July 2, 1776.  Congress looked it over and made some changes, but on July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed and sent to Britain

The men who signed the Declaration of Independence were brave men.  They could have been hanged to death for turning against Britain, but they all signed anyway.  They believed in our country and in the people's right to live independently.

What are you doing to celebrate today?  Krumbs and I are going to fireworks and we are making Happy Birthday Cupcakes to celebrate our country's birthday.

Krumbs and I are frosting cupcakes with white frosting.  Then we'll wash strawberries and blueberries and cut up the strawberries.  We'll use the red strawberries and the blueberries to make designs on the white iced cupcakes and VOILA! red, white and blue cupcakes!
